Psalm 149

Psalm 149

Milt Reynolds | Last updated: May 29, 2022

“Praise the LORD! Sing to the LORD a new song, his praise in the assembly of the godly! Let Israel be glad in his Maker; let the children of Zion rejoice in their King! Let them praise his name with dancing, making melody to him with tambourine and lyre! For the LORD takes pleasure in his people; he adorns the humble with salvation. Let the godly exult in glory; let them sing for joy on their beds. Let the high praises of God be in their throats and two-edged swords in their hands, to execute vengeance on the nations and punishments on the peoples, to bind their kings with chains and their nobles with fetters of iron, to execute on them the judgment written! This is honor for all his godly ones. Praise the LORD!” (Psalm 149:1–9, ESV)

No King Beside Our God

LORD! Fill our souls today with praises of you! Make today a new song of praise, seeing you and what you are doing and saying in a fresh, new way. Give us a desire to join together in praise of you as people belonging to you.

MAKER! Fill us with gladness today for what you made in our mother's womb, for what you've made for us to live in and on.

KING! Fill our souls today with rejoicing in your rule and reign over our past, our present and our future.

We are humbled by your care for us, by your pleasure in us, by your salvation of us. Act with perfect justice in our hearts and minds, LORD! Cast down all of our idolatry and all of our selfishness and all of our mis-placed hope and security and authority. Become for us today our All in All. We have no King beside you, LORD!

Amen!
