Trust // A Prayer from Today's Psalms // July 28, 2025

Lord Jesus, God of my salvation, I cry out before you day and night. I call to you for help...in the morning my prayer brings me to you.

Lord, I must trust you. I must trust that you hear and that you care. Or else, I'm undone! Forgive my sin...I don't deserve your forgiveness, but I cannot live without it. I cannot bear the thought of never being in your presence, never knowing your comfort, never being treasured and loved by you.

You are my strength and my shield. My heart trusts in you, and that trust brings confident, expectant hope. That trust makes my heart celebrate and sing with gratitude! Hallelujah!

Be my shepherd, Lord Jesus my God! Carry me forever!

"In Christ are hidden all the treasures of wisdom and knowledge. I say this in order that no one may delude you with plausible arguments." (Colossians 2:3-4) WHO CAN YOU BELIEVE? Politicians, preachers and peddlers are some of the most persuasive people we may meet. I can listen to an argument or sales pitch and be completely sold on it, and then listen to a different, contradictory presentation and be equally persuaded...who is right? Competitive debate or rhetoric is based upon the art of persuasion, the forceful, charismatic use of words and appearance to move people towards action or emotion. Truth and objectivity are optional for a peddler (or politician, preacher or lawyer). Facts are tools that can be modified, exaggerated, obscured or concealed.
