Distant // A Prayer from Today's Psalms // August 13, 2025
All day long I've felt distant from you, Lord.
Anxious concerns, a heavy-head, dullness of heart and weakness of body. My way feels slippery and useless. My self-heavy pride brings pangs of regret and envy.
Bring relief to my bitter soul, Lord. Restore brightness to my outlook and gratitude to my thoughts. Renew my trust in your faithful love, guide me through thick and through thin, and my heart will rejoice in your great goodness and power.
Rescue me, God, from my inclination toward deceit and dishonor. For you are the God of my refuge. Lead me into worship and joy and praise, Spirit of God. Who do I have in heaven but you? What do I desire on earth but you?
My flesh and my heart may fail, but you are the strength of my heart, my portion forever.
O my soul, bless the Lord, and all that is within me bless his holy name, and do not forget all his benefits:
forgiveness of iniquity,
healing of sin-sickness,
redemption from Death,
crowned with his faithful love and compassion,
life forevermore.
My soul, bless the Lord!
A Prayer based upon Psalms 13, 43, 73, 103, 133 // Milt Reynolds
