Like a Parched Land // A Prayer from Today's Psalms // August 3, 2025

Lord, how my troubles increase! There are too many...making me feel weary and dull of heart and dull of hearing. My emotions say there is no help no for me from God. My spirit is weak within me; my heart is overcome with dismay.

I am like a parched land before you.

But this is what my faith says: You, Lord, are a shield around me, my glory, and the one who lifts up my head. Forgive my slack-hearted emotions and restore to my the joy of my salvation!

Return, o rejoicing! Return o praise! Lord, bring a new song into my heart today, for you are truly right and all your work is trustworthy. You love rightness and justice. The earth is full of your unfailing love.

Return, o awe-filled fear! Lord, you spoke and it all came into being: the heavens, the stars, the seas.

You formed my heart, and you consider my work. I'm not saved by my physical prowess, by exemplary emotions, by grand government. I wait for you, Lord. You are my help and shield. I trust in your holy name and your faithful love.
