Right-ness and Just-ness // A Prayer from Today's Psalms // October 3, 2025

Image
O God, you are my God; earnestly I seek you. My soul thirsts for you. O Lord, save me! Save me from these thoughts that press in on me, saying "There is no salvation for me in God." Have mercy upon me, O Lord, for I have had enough of Pride's contempt and Arrogant's scorn. Be my Shield, my Glory, my Lifter of my head. Sustain me against the thousands of voices, posts and advertisements which set themselves against trust in you alone. Open my spiritual eyes to see and know that all your work is done in faithfulness, that you love right-ness and just-ness...that the earth is full of your steadfast love. From creation until now, we all depend upon your mercy and grace, whether we admit it or not. Train our hearts to trust not in a great army, or great physical fitness, or great industry and commerce. You alone are our hope and our shield. Today, make my heart glad in Jesus, because I trust in his holy name. His throne is established from of old; Jesus is Lord...

Through Affliction and Distress // A Prayer from Today's Psalms // October 1, 2025

Lord, train my heart to delight in your Word...to meditate on your promises and purposes day and night. For the sake of your glory and great goodness, O Lord, lead me and guide me, through affliction and distress, with glad gratefulness. My strength fails because of my iniquity, and my body fails. I feel broken and worthless. Protect me from perverse rebellion. Protect me from unbelief. Protect me from dishonoring you. But I trust in you, O Lord. You are my God. My times are in your hand, to rescue and rebuke, to correct and to encourage. Strengthen me, O Lord, and make my heart take courage in waiting for you! May your steadfast love and faithfulness win my heart, my whole heart. Satisfy me with your salvation, from this time forth and forevermore!
