Something Greater

I will bless the Lord at all times; his praise will always be on my lips. I sought the Lord, and he answered me and rescued me from all my fears. I cried, and the Lord heard me and saved me from all my troubles. The eyes of the Lord are on those who seek his right-ness, and his ears are open to their cry for help. The Lord is near the brokenhearted, and he saves those crushed in spirit. God hears my voice when I am in anguish. When I am filled with cares, God's comfort brings me joy. The Lord is my refuge; my God is the rock of my protection. He is my faithful love and my fortress, my stronghold and my deliverer. Lord, how my troubles increase! There are too many...making me feel weary and dull of heart and dull of hearing. My emotions say there is no help no for me from God. My spirit is weak within me; my heart is overcome with dismay. I am like a parched land before you. But this is what my faith says: You, Lord, are a shield around me, my glory, and the one who lifts up my head. Forgive my slack-hearted emotions and restore to my the joy of my salvation! Return, o rejoicing! Return o praise! Lord, bring a new song into my heart today, for you are truly right and all your work is trustworthy. You love rightness and justice. The earth is full of your unfailing love. Return, o awe-filled fear! Lord, you spoke and it all came into being: the heavens, the stars, the seas. You formed my heart, and you consider my work. I'm not saved by my physical prowess, by exemplary emotions, by grand government. I wait for you, Lord. You are my help and shield. I trust...

Rest in God alone, my soul, for my hope comes from him. He alone is my rock and my salvation, my stronghold; I will not be shaken. My salvation and glory depend on God, my strong rock. Lord Jesus, God of my salvation, I cry out before you day and night. I call to you for help...in the morning my prayer brings me to you. Lord, I must trust you. I must trust that you hear and that you care. Or else, I'm undone! Forgive my sin...I don't deserve your forgiveness, but I cannot live without it. I cannot bear the thought of never being in your presence, never knowing your comfort, never being treasured and loved by you. You are my strength and my shield. The earth and everything in it, the world and its inhabitants, belong to the LORD...The LORD, strong and mighty, the LORD, mighty in battle.. Lord, it was you who brought me out of the womb, making me secure at my mother’s breast. I was given over to you at birth; you have been my God from my mother’s womb. Too often do I forget this. Too many times hard circumstances and conditions push me into a corner of dark self-pity and distrust in your constant oversight and provision. Rescue me, Lord, from forgetting you! Save me from being dissatified with your rule over my life! Correct my inclination toward trusting in riches, taking refuge in destructive behavior, and refusing to take refuge in you.
