Make Me See Clearly Now // A Prayer from Today's Psalms // August 19, 2025

Image
Lord, you have searched me and known me. Revive my soul through hearing your holy Word. Make my simple mind wise. Make my dull heart joyful. Make my eyes able to clearly see, hear, obey and worship your great goodness. Make my mind clean of self-deception and self-pride. Make me to endure trouble without fear. Make me to trust in your great goodness, rather than the abundance of wealth. Make me free of presumptuous sin and let them no have dominion over me! Make the words of my mouth and the meditation of my heart be acceptable in your sight, O Lord, my rock and my redeemer. Help us, O God of our salvation, for the glory of your name! Deliver us, and make us trust in Christ's atonement for our sin. We your people, the sheep of your pasture, will give thanks to you forever! Holiness // A Prayer from Today's Psalms // August 15, 2025

Image
Lord, I've lost sight today of your holiness. It's as if I can see no further upward than my own image. Lord, you are utterly blameless, righteous, and true. Your words carry no slander, no evil or disgrace for those you love. Your words are trustworthy and true. Your throne, O God, is forever and ever. You have loved righteousness and hated wickedness. Lord, open my eyes to see your goodness, to hear your truthfulness, to obey your instruction, and worship your holiness! Train my heart to hear and consider and incline my ear to your word. Distant // A Prayer from Today's Psalms // August 13, 2025

Image
All day long I've felt distant from you, Lord. Anxious concerns, a heavy-head, dullness of heart and weakness of body. My way feels slippery and useless. My self-heavy pride brings pangs of regret and envy. Bring relief to my bitter soul, Lord. Restore brightness to my outlook and gratitude to my thoughts. Renew my trust in your faithful love, guide me through thick and through thin, and my heart will rejoice in your great goodness and power. Rescue me, God, from my inclination toward deceit and dishonor. For you are the God of my refuge. Lead me into worship and joy and praise, Spirit of God. Who do I have in heaven but you? What do I desire on earth but you? My flesh and my heart may fail, but you are the strength of my heart, my portion forever. O my soul, bless the Lord, and all that is within me bless his holy name, and do not forget all his benefits: forgiveness of iniquity, healing of sin-sickness, redemption from Death, c...

Magnificent // A Prayer from Today's Psalms // August 8, 2025

Image
Lord, our Lord, how magnificent is your name throughout the earth! I put my hope in you, Lord, my salvation, father of the fatherless and a champion of the lonely; provider for the poor, for who trust in your goodness; defeater of death's dark power of punishment. Sing to God, you kingdoms of the earth; sing a new song of victory to the Lord! Come, Lord Jesus, come quickly! A Wellspring of Refreshment // A Prayer from Today's Psalms // August 6, 2025

Image
Be gracious to me, Lord, for I am weak, my whole being is shaken. Oh, Lord, for how long? Turn, Lord! Rescue me! Save me for the sake of your faithful love. I am weary. I am discouraged. I am grieved. I regret my selfish, flattering opinion of myself when I felt on top of the world, and superior to all around me. Your Holy Spirit has shown me my sinful self-deception and malicious attitudes to those around me. Lord, your faithful love reaches to heaven, your faithfulness to the clouds. Your right-ness is like the highest mountains, your purposes like the deepest sea. How priceless is your faithful love, God! In the shadow of your wings is my refuge. Lord, from your refreshing wellspring my thirst is satisfied. By your Spirit's light I see light at last! Lead Me // A Prayer from Today's Psalms // August 5, 2025

Image
In the morning, Lord, you hear my voice; in the morning I lift my soul to you. And I wait. Expectantly. Lord, lead me into your right-ness. Make your way straight before me. Rescue me from my inclination towards selfishness, apathy, harshness, and hypocrisy. My ugliness of spirit and selfishness of disloyalty overwhelm me. Only you can atone for my rebellious inclinations. Turn my soul toward praise and thankfulness for you. Satisfy my soul with the goodness of your Spirit, with holiness of your ever-present Presence. You are the God of my salvation, the hope of all my desires, the strength of all my struggles. Your are my God, my Maker, my Shepherd, my Rest. Do what is good in your eyes, my King! Filled With Cares // A Prayer from Today's Psalms // August 4, 2025

Image
I will bless the Lord at all times; his praise will always be on my lips. I sought the Lord, and he answered me and rescued me from all my fears. I cried, and the Lord heard me and saved me from all my troubles. The eyes of the Lord are on those who seek his right-ness, and his ears are open to their cry for help. The Lord is near the brokenhearted, and he saves those crushed in spirit. God hears my voice when I am in anguish. When I am filled with cares, God's comfort brings me joy. The Lord is my refuge; my God is the rock of my protection. He is my faithful love and my fortress, my stronghold and my deliverer. Reach down, Lord, from on high, and rescue me from deep water, and set me free! A Prayer based upon Psalms 4, 34, 64, 94, 114, 144 // Milt Reynolds Photo by thewavephotographer on Unsplash

Like a Parched Land // A Prayer from Today's Psalms // August 3, 2025

Image
Lord, how my troubles increase! There are too many...making me feel weary and dull of heart and dull of hearing. My emotions say there is no help no for me from God. My spirit is weak within me; my heart is overcome with dismay. I am like a parched land before you. But this is what my faith says: You, Lord, are a shield around me, my glory, and the one who lifts up my head. Forgive my slack-hearted emotions and restore to my the joy of my salvation! Return, o rejoicing! Return o praise! Lord, bring a new song into my heart today, for you are truly right and all your work is trustworthy. You love rightness and justice. The earth is full of your unfailing love. Return, o awe-filled fear! Lord, you spoke and it all came into being: the heavens, the stars, the seas. You formed my heart, and you consider my work. I'm not saved by my physical prowess, by exemplary emotions, by grand government. I wait for you, Lord. You are my help and shield. I trust...

My Rock // A Prayer from Today's Psalms // August 2, 2025

Rest in God alone, my soul, for my hope comes from him. He alone is my rock and my salvation, my stronghold; I will not be shaken. My salvation and glory depend on God, my strong rock. My refuge is in God. Trust in him at all times, you people; pour out your hearts before him. God is our refuge.
